We started off from our small (population: 100, give or take) wilderness settlement of Ogdar’s Reach. This hill fort provides, meagerly, the bare necessities of life but nothing more. It is a dreary and depressed place, with food growing sparse and work not easy to come by.
Our goal was to harvest some lume mushrooms from the area north of town, rumored to be home to giant spiders. Along the way we came upon the ruins of the tower begun years ago, just a basement with a surrounding wall, long since abandoned. Although overgrown with brambles and weeds, it definitely seemed as though someone had been there, recently.
The priest, Ed, started hearing a woman’s voice in his head. The only word he could make out was Moongawell. Nyfed the mage could make out some ancient symbols scratched into the stonework below, seeming to be a protection spell or an attempt to break a curse, perhaps?
There was no time to dwell on these oddities as they soon found themselves in a battle against four giant rats. It was an intense fight and unfortunately Nyfed lost his life. The group respectfully cremated his remains. In a bizarre twist, Owain hacked off the tails of the four dead rats, thinking he’d create a whip-like weapon out of them.
Back at the town, after successfully harvesting 23 lume mushrooms, we all met up at the town meeting hall. Aeodan, having had much to drink and mourning the loss of Nyfed, started angering the elders of the town with his mouthy criticisms of how they were running the town; their lack of vision was appalling, he said. Mordaf took matters into his own hands by spiking Aeodan’s drink, rendering him unconscious.
